The Challenge
Serving as a large academic health system with multiple hospitals and audiences, WMCHealth’s web presence had become fragmented and difficult to manage due to outdated, hospital-specific designs and a limited CMS. As a broader rebrand was still in progress, the organization needed a modernized website that aligned with the existing brand while setting a flexible foundation for what was next, along with a scalable, component-based design system capable of supporting hundreds of pages, diverse content types, and a significantly improved user experience.
The Approach
Partner closely with stakeholders through interviews and competitive analysis to define an interim brand personality and design principles.
Establish and align on a “Contemporary Warmth” design direction that balanced familiarity with a more modern, inviting visual identity.
Design and evolve a scalable, component-based system through an iterative, agile process including defining styles, variables, components, and templates with detailed documentation to enable efficient, high-quality front-end development.
The Results
A comprehensive website redesign for a large academic health system that delivered a cohesive, accessible, and user-friendly digital experience. The engagement resulted in a scalable design system built to support future growth and an upcoming brand-wide redesign, while a modernized UI improved engagement for both patients and healthcare professionals, contributing to a 200% increase in online bookings.
