The Challenge
Marin Health serves a distinctive patient population that is older, highly educated, active, and deeply connected to the natural environment. Their physical spaces reflect that identity through open, calming, biophilic environments designed to feel more like a retreat than a traditional healthcare setting. The challenge was to translate that experience into a digital platform while still making critical healthcare information and actions immediately clear for people who may be stressed, confused, facing an emergency, or navigating the system with different abilities and needs.
The Approach
Translate Marin Health’s physical environment and patient experience into a digital visual language inspired by nature, warmth, calm, and spaciousness.
Design the experience around the moments that matter most to patients, prioritizing clear pathways to actions such as finding care, accessing services, and navigating the system.
Develop a reusable design system and flexible page architecture to create consistency across the site while supporting a wide range of content, audiences, and future needs.
Build accessibility and inclusive design into the foundation of the experience.
The Results
A complete website redesign and rebuild that brings Marin Health’s distinctive, nature-inspired patient experience into the digital space. The new platform balances a calm, premium visual identity with the clarity and accessibility healthcare demands, creating an experience that feels welcoming and human while helping patients quickly find the information and care they need. A comprehensive design system provides a scalable foundation for continued growth and consistency across the digital experience.
